Baby Groups

After baby arrives, first we want to get feeding going well.  Then we think about playing with our babies, too.  There are groups which support parents and their babies in various ways, and these are what Babies in Common offers!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, these groups are taking place via Zoom but we look forward to the day when we can do them in-person again!

Home with Baby

The “Home with Baby” groups will be a 4 week series (via Zoom), highlighting developmentally appropriate activities to facilitate your child’s growth through play, movement, and connection.  We will discuss some of the ups and downs of the parenting experience.  Most importantly, parents will have the opportunity to connect with each other to share their questions, experiences, and concerns.

You'll connect with other parents and their babies while doing fun and collaborative activities.  Facilitated by Melanie Salort, a pediatric occupational therapist, who has been working with children and their families for almost 20 years.  She will vary the theme and activities each week to highlight different areas of development. She looks forward to incorporating parent questions and concerns, supporting the journey of new parents.

$80.00 per 4-week series.

There are two groups:

Babies ages 3 weeks - 10 weeks: meets for 4 Thursdays, TBD

Babies 11 weeks - 6 months old:  meets for 4 Tuesdays, TBD

Melanie Salort has practiced as a pediatric occupational therapist for 18 years.  For most of her career, she has specialized in the area of sensory processing both in clinical and teaching capacity.  In 2017, Ms. Salort  completed a fellowship in Infant Parent Mental Health and has a particular interest in supporting the parent/child relationship.  She works at sensory integration clinic in Newton Massachusetts as well as has her own private practice.

We also host two other groups, more specific to feeding babies (and older nurslings) but we do include topics like bottlefeeding, pumping, sleep, babywearing, relationships, mental health, helpful and not-so-helpful baby gear and really any other topics that naturally come up from participants. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these are done via the HIPAA-compliant level of the Zoom platform.

Breastmilk & Conversation, typically Fridays at 11:30 am.

More Milk Mamas, usually once a month on a weekend.
